The
attention of the world is increasingly being drawn to the rising
prices of fuel and its ecological impact. The ecological effect
can be seen worldwide in the form of global warming. Boilers and
furnaces in various applications has been subject of interest
and investigation for a long time. Mainly the objective is to
improve the fuel investigation has been in one of the two directions;
namely:

improvement in the design of boilers, furnaces and more specifically
the burners.

improvement
in the fuel oil performance by changing its physico-chemical
characteristics.
Our
focus has been on the second aspect, which is to change the characteristics
of the fuel oil so that its performance is improved. Thus the upgraded
oil has better fuel efficiency and also the pollution from combustion
is reduced.
Technergy
Engineering (India) Pvt. Ltd. has developed a Process System equipment
for encapsulation of water in fuel with the help of a patented emulsifier.
The combustion of the emulsifier in the tailor made mixing equipment
results in a water-in-fuel emulsion which helps in better combustion
leading to fuel savings.
During firing pf boilers and furnaces, the size of fuel droplets
undergoing combination is the key. The smaller the size of droplets,
the greater is the fuel efficiency. In normal fuel combustion
process, as the particle size is large, the outer surface of the
droplets get heated leading to incomplete combustion. In the case
of encapsulated fuel oil, once the outer surface is heated, the
water inside the oil heats up leading to a micro explosion. This
ensures more complete combustion and steam production increases
with the increased SFR. The steam thus produced also helps facilitate
higher efficiency by using the hydrogen produced in the shift
reaction. Also the reduction in the flame temperature reduces
the NOx in the resultant effluent gases.
The
process System designed is based on inline Mixing and Emulsification
principles. An appropriate Emulsifying Agent is mixed with water
separately. Water is then introduced in the correct proportion
to the Fuel Oil a Distributor. This is further passed vide an
Emulsifying Static Mixer through a Refiner to produce fine droplets
of Water in Oil. Around these three Essential Equipment there
are Thanks, High Pressure Pumps, Piping and adequate Pressure
and Temperature indicators.
